Ceritinib
Ceritinib is a capsule that you take by mouth. It works as follows:-
Ceritinib is an advanced medication taken by mouth, designed to specifically target a protein called anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK), which is found in certain cancer cells. By blocking ALK, ceritinib stops the activation of proteins involved in cancer cell growth, ultimately preventing the spread of cancer. Additionally, ceritinib inhibits other receptors like insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor, insulin receptor, and ROS1. Compared to older medications like crizotinib, ceritinib is significantly more potent against ALK and is better at penetrating the brain, making it effective against various mutations that cause resistance to crizotinib.
